A History Built on Accuracy
From a one-man estimating practice in Essex to one of the UK's most trusted construction consultancies — here's how we got here.
Founded in Essex
Andy Page established Page Building Consultants as a sole-trader estimating practice, serving local contractors across Essex and East London with hand-drawn take-offs and detailed cost plans.
Expanded to Commercial Projects
Growing demand from commercial developers led to the expansion of our services into retail fit-outs, office refurbishments and light industrial builds. Staff headcount doubled within two years.
Digital Estimating Adopted
We were early adopters of digital estimating software, transitioning from manual take-offs to industry-leading platforms. This dramatically improved turnaround times and estimate accuracy.
Survived the Financial Crisis
While many consultancies folded during the 2008 recession, our reputation for accuracy and value kept us busy. We helped dozens of contractors sharpen their bids and win work in a highly competitive market.
Quantity Surveying Division Launched
We formally launched a dedicated QS division, offering Bills of Quantities, contract administration and post-contract cost management — rounding out our full-service offering.
EPC Survey Services Added
With energy efficiency regulations tightening, we brought Energy Performance Certificate assessments in-house. Sarah Mitchell joined as our lead EPC assessor, covering domestic and non-domestic properties.
Moved to London HQ
To better serve our growing client base across Greater London and the South East, we relocated our registered office to Kemp House, City Road, London — while retaining our Essex roots.
Online Estimating Platform Launched
We launched our online cost calculator and fee proposal system, making it easier than ever for clients to get indicative costs and request a formal estimate — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Andy Page founded Page Building Consultants in 1987 after a career spanning residential, commercial and civil construction across the UK. Starting as a site labourer at 16, he worked his way through every trade before qualifying as a Chartered Builder and setting up his own estimating practice.

James Thornton joined Page Building Consultants in 2009 after a decade working in-house for a major regional contractor. He brings 19 years of quantity surveying and estimating experience to the team, with a particular focus on residential extensions, loft conversions and refurbishments.
